Administrative Description:

The Cotton Foundation is a Houston-based nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring hope to children and families affected by disasters, illnesses, and other life-altering events. The Foundation focuses on creating a compassionate community that supports the healing process for families during difficult times. The Executive Director (ED) provides dynamic leadership and strategic direction, ensuring the mission, vision, and values are effectively implemented and operationalized. What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have substantial leadership experience in a similar nonprofit or hospitality-based setting, with success in fundraising, strategic planning, team management, and community involvement. Responsibilities

Provide leadership and strategic direction to advance The Cotton Foundation’s mission and long-term goals. Develop and implement strategic plans, and foster an organizational culture that reflects compassion, collaboration, and excellence. Act as the primary spokesperson, cultivating relationships with donors, partners, government entities, and the community. Lead and develop a high-performing staff with mentorship and professional development. Oversee fundraising strategies across major donors, corporate partnerships, grants, and individual contributions to meet goals. Build and maintain relationships with funders to ensure diverse revenue streams. Plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and donor outreach initiatives. Develop donor retention and stewardship programs for long-term support. Cultivate relationships with local organizations, government agencies, hospitals, schools, and other partners to extend impact. Represent the Foundation in public speaking engagements, community events, and conferences. Oversee day-to-day operations, ensure program efficiency, and monitor fiscal health. Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and tax requirements; evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements. Provide regular updates to the Founder and Board on progress toward goals, fundraising outcomes, and financial status. Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of nonprofit leadership experience, preferably in a foundation, hospitality-based setting, or disaster relief/healthcare environment. Proven success in fundraising, community engagement, and team leadership; experience in strategic planning and budgeting. Strong track record in securing funding from diverse sources; major gifts and grant writing experience is essential. Passion for community service and experience partnering with community groups and local government. Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable with public speaking and representing the Foundation. Financial acumen: budgeting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Social Work, Business Administration). Preferred Skills and Attributes

Strong nonprofit or hospitality sector networks. Experience in family-centered organizations focused on children and health issues. Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and navigate sensitive situations. High emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills. Why You’ll Love It Here
