Employment Type: Part-time (14 hours a week) Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30 June 2026 (with possibility of renewal) Remuneration: Competitive remuneration based on Academic Level B or Academic Level C, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. UNSW Rural brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at rural clinical campuses. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery, with strong student-clinician engagement and integration into the local medical community. Role and Responsibilities
In the role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, ILP Coordinator, Rural you will: Lead and develop the Independent Learning Project (ILP) program at the campus, ensuring alignment with program goals and providing supervised research experiences for undergraduate medical students. Develop self-directed learning, critical thinking, and research concepts among students. Report to the Director of Medical Education at the campus, with a dotted reporting line to the Clinical Director Rural, ILP and Research Collaboration. No direct reports. Key Skills and Experience (Senior Lecturer): A Fellow of a Specialist Medical College and/or a postgraduate degree in a relevant field with experience in medical/health environments, or equivalent professional experience. Coordinate, support and guide ILP-related activities: supervision, teaching, mentoring, reviews, theses, presentations, coursework, and final reports. Provide support in local hospital and clinical environments for ILP and rural research projects, including design, governance, research skills development, and ethics applications/approval. Engage with PHN, AMS and other health/community networks; build productive relationships and pursue funding where appropriate. Contribute to the development and maintenance of RHMT Rural Research Plan, rural research framework, workforce retention strategies, data collection and analysis. Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students with a rural health/research focus. Senior Lecturer (Level C) additional responsibilities include: High-level coordination and administration within the program; provide expert advice to students and staff on course-related matters. Mentor students and supervisors in designing research studies, ethics applications, and preparing for publication. Demonstrated expertise in a relevant sub-disciplinary area, including module convenorship and rural-based research including publications, ethics, and grants.
