Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy worked by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. DSPs cover pharmacist scheduling gaps within the district under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL) to support pharmacy teams. While working in stores throughout the district, you are accountable for supporting the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team.
Responsibilities
Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC); overseeing the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap
Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following—and directing the pharmacy team to follow—pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation
Assumes Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care; coaching the pharmacy team to do the same and proactively resolving insurance and/or medication issues
Proactively offering and delivering immunizations to keep patients healthy; engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
Supporting inventory management with a focus on protecting cold chain products
Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills; actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to support patients
Supporting access to care and improving patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing services where permissible)
Understanding and complying with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies; protecting patient privacy and maintaining a safe workplace
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
Essential Functions
Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and Focus:
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs
Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety
Customer Service and Team Orientation:
Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
Communication Skills:
Use and understand verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues
Practice active listening and ask appropriate questions
Mathematical Reasoning:
Compute quantities such as days supply and bottle counts to fulfill prescriptions
Problem Resolution:
Identify challenging interactions and select appropriate actions
Physical Demands:
Be mobile and upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items
Reach overhead; perform repetitive finger movements; bend and move as needed
Close visual acuity for reading and computer use
Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs; frequently lift up to 10 lbs
Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting

Pay Range The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $60.00 - $74.00 per hour. This range represents base pay and may vary by experience, education, geography and program.
