Summary Provides installation, administration and maintenance of enterprise Local/Municipal/Wide/Wireless Area Network (LAN, MAN, WAN, WLAN) infrastructure. Performs high level, complex, and responsible tasks with minimal supervision and follow-up from a supervisor. Responsibilities

Designs and implements LAN wired topology to create scalable and redundant network infrastructure. Installs and configures LAN switch, router, and firewall components within ANTHC data centers and campus distribution points. Manages LAN network interfaces, protocols, and monitors network traffic to ensure optimal performance. Develops solutions to ensure proper integration with other campus networked systems to meet business goals and requirements. Collaborates with local Alaska telecommunications companies and regional Tribal Health Organizations to design and implement WAN solutions based on clinical and business requirements. Designs and implements WAN solutions for statewide needs, including telehealth and store-and-forward capabilities; provides consultation and assistance to regional network engineering staff with WAN and firewall troubleshooting. Architects secure and scalable wireless network solutions; performs site surveys; configures, installs, manages and monitors wireless controllers and access points. Provides administration and maintenance of network management systems, monitors utilization, and recommends capacity upgrades. Analyzes problems and implements solutions per department procedures; troubleshoots network, power, and security incidents; documents issues and resolutions. Coordinates system upgrades and equipment replacements; develops disaster recovery and security protocols. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of networked computer system environments and device capabilities. Knowledge of LAN/WAN/MAN/WLAN management and layer 1-4 configuration principles. Knowledge of networks, security guidelines, and industry best practices. Knowledge of MPLS, T1 and fractional T1 transmission systems, protocols, and dynamic routing. Knowledge of Cisco firewalls, routers, wireless infrastructure, IDS/IPS, Identity Services, data center and campus switches. Knowledge of various operating systems, including open source servers. Knowledge of videoconferencing and related standards and hardware. Ability to work independently and in fast-paced environments; strong data analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage complex projects involving people and technology and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with ANTHC staff, partners and vendors. Minimum Qualifications

Education:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Progressively responsible experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Experience:

Non-supervisory - Seven (7) years of computer network installation and maintenance experience. Other network/industry experience may be substituted where appropriate. Certifications:

Preferred CCNP or equivalent; other certifications may be substituted where appropriate. Additional Requirements

May require off-shift work in emergency situations or after-hour change management. Occasional travel to remote locations by boat, snowmobile, ATV or small plane is required. Seniorities and Employment Type
