We are looking for a Field Service Engineer for our Electrification Automation (EA) Business Unit headquartered in Wendell, NC. This position will be based in Portland, OR. The EA Business Unit has a diverse portfolio of products including photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment including packaging and services, and solutions, including automation.
Responsibilities
Installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up of LV and MV equipment. May also include troubleshooting, maintenance, training, and consulting.
Develop switching procedures and Methods of Procedure (MOPs); advise on electrical safety matters related to scheduled and unscheduled work.
Support Greenfield and Brownfield unit installations and commissioning activities throughout Siemens/USA.
Experience with power distribution system equipment – low and medium voltage (e.g., 480V-38kV).
Develop test plans for complex relay systems and troubleshoot those systems; experience with relays from manufacturers such as SEL, Siemens SIPROTEC, GE Multilin is a plus.
Travel flexibility; this is a hands-on field, travel-type position with up to 80% travel, potentially national depending on site locations.
Position may be based remotely within the Portland, OR area to support EA partners.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
High School or GED minimum.
10+ years of experience with power distribution systems and low and medium voltage switchgear, including protection and automation commissioning and troubleshooting with relay systems such as SEL, Siemens SIPROTEC, and GE Multilin.
10+ years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of electrical control circuits, including breakers or high voltage equipment testing, analyzing test results and equipment condition assessment.
Must be available to respond to emergency and relief assignments.
Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and ability to perform duties within safety guidelines.
Based remotely within the Portland, Oregon area to support EA’s business partners.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%.
Valid Driver's license in good standing; at least 21 years of age to participate in Siemens vehicle plan.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of field service experience commissioning and troubleshooting.
Experience with protection and control relays.
Experience with project management software.
Experience with High Voltage Circuit breakers; knowledge of SF6 gas circuit breakers.
MSHA 46/48, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E; TWIC card; NETA/NICET.
