Overview

We are seeking a Senior IT Data Management Specialist to join the Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) within the Research and Data Analysis Division (RDA) at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). This is a senior technical position that bridges business intelligence, data architecture, and governance disciplines. The ideal candidate has a strategic mindset, excels in collaboration across diverse teams, and brings a passion for building sustainable, enterprise-scale data solutions. Responsibilities

Design and manage ETL solutions across on-premises and cloud environments to support enterprise data integration Develop and maintain pipelines and SQL-based transformations for fact and dimension models Build and optimize Power BI semantic models to deliver scalable and reusable reporting datasets Create and maintain database objects such as stored procedures, views, and functions to support complex business needs Implement and document data architecture through ERDs and metadata to ensure consistency and transparency Collaborate across programs and state agencies (e.g., DSHS, EQUITY, HCA, DCYF) to ensure data alignment and interoperability Monitor, test, and troubleshoot data flows to maintain performance, reliability, and accuracy Apply data governance, privacy, and security standards in compliance with state and federal requirements Utilize Azure DevOps for version control, deployment pipelines, documentation, and sprint-based project tracking Provide technical guidance and promote best practices in enterprise data management and integration Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree including 9 semester or 15 quarter hours of computer science courses and 7 years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing, or programming computer systems applications or databases OR 11 years of consultative, administrative, or supervisor experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing, or programming computer systems applications or databases A Master’s degree will substitute for one year of the required experience The Following Required Experience May Have Been Obtained Concurrently

Five years of progressively responsible experience in a lead role is required due to the enterprise nature of assignments. This experience could be through performance of direct supervisory function for staff, direct management of contracted resources or matrix management of staff resources for a project or similar endeavor What We’re Looking For

Experience developing dashboards using Business Intelligence tools Experience with data warehouse methodologies, such as Kimball Extensive knowledge of coding languages, including Java, XML, and SQL Proven work experience as an ETL developer How to Apply
