The department is the Department of Epidemiology within the Gillings School of Global Public Health. Position Summary

The Senior Research Scientist will serve as an epidemiologist and scientific lead for several key components of two or more large multi-center studies or clinical trials, including the TEAMS-BP trial and related studies. In collaboration with Principal Investigators, the Senior Research Scientist will lead development and refinement of the Manual of Operating Procedures (MOP), reporting, integration with the clinical team, and dissemination of results (manuscripts and presentations). The role includes acting as a Data Coordinating Center liaison to the Data Safety Monitoring Board, managing the Publications Committee, Project Coordination, and data analysis. Duties also include leading the creation of Data Use Agreements (DUAs) and IRB submissions; developing proposals and budgets; communications with funding agencies; developing complex data reporting templates, databases, and implementation plans; developing databases (e.g., REDCap); coordinating with co-investigators at other sites; and developing reports to funders. Responsibilities

Lead development and refinement of SOPs (MOP), reporting, and dissemination of results. Coordinate with clinical teams and data coordinating centers; liaise with Data Safety Monitoring Board. Oversee Publications Committee, project coordination, and data analysis activities. Develop Data Use Agreements (DUAs) and IRB submissions; craft proposals and budgets; communicate with funding agencies. Design and implement data reporting templates, databases, and implementation plans; develop databases (e.g., REDCap). Coordinate multi-site collaborations with investigators at UNC and other institutions; prepare reports for funders. Minimum Education And Experience

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates with demonstrated independent research productivity, a relevant Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience may be substituted. Terminal degree and licensure may be required. Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

Proactive, able to work independently, adaptable, with excellent writing and communication skills. Outstanding organizational and management skills; scientific or report writing experience. Experience in data management and evaluation; ability to communicate with collaborators across disciplines; planning, implementation, and evaluation of ongoing studies. Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision and maintain excellent communication; high attention to detail and organization. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

Experience with quantitative data, analytical programming, statistical software (e.g., SAS, R); familiarity with medical literature. Public speaking experience; experience with clinical trials and/or pilot studies is a plus. Special Instructions
