Position Details
Position Title: Humanities Adjunct Faculty Pool
Type: Part Time (Non-Exempt)
Hours Per Week: 3 hours per 3-credit course, with additional time for grading and preparation.
Schedule: May be morning, afternoon, or online.
Position Salary Range: See adjunct salary schedule below.
Summary: This posting is a pool for those interested in teaching humanities courses offered at HCC. Courses include creative writing, Introduction to the Humanities, and Introduction to the Creative Arts. Adjunct faculty may teach 1–3 courses each semester. Teaching requires use of Canvas LMS and participation in course assessments. Adjuncts are invited to professional development.
Essential Role Responsibilities For each assigned course, prepare course materials and Canvas site as guided by the humanities instructional team, deliver quality instruction, meet with students in person or virtually, grade promptly, attend required faculty meetings, and complete required trainings and other employment-related requirements.
Preferred Experience
Master's degree in humanities, arts, or a closely related discipline, or significant graduate work toward the degree, or significant professional experience as determined by chair/coordinator.
Prior teaching experience; college teaching experience preferred.
Prior college teaching experience in humanities preferred.
Proficiency in Canvas LMS for course information, communication, and delivery in hybrid and online modes.
