Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller for our client in Stow. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with deep expertise in cost accounting including both job costing and standard cost analysis and a proven track record of leading process improvements, implementing training programs, and driving profitability enhancements. The Controller will serve as a strategic partner to operations and leadership, bringing financial discipline and actionable insights to support business growth and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of cost accounting, including job costing, standard costing, variance analysis, and overhead allocation. Analyze manufacturing and operational data to identify cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost reduction. Maintain and improve costing models to support accurate financial reporting and decision-making. Prepare detailed cost reports and KPIs for management review. Process Improvement & Systems Implementation
Work with Senior Leadership Team to identify, develop, and implement cross-function process improvements to increase organizations results for gross profit, on-time shipments, accuracy, speed, and efficiency in transactions. Lead or support ERP/system upgrades or changes, ensuring accurate cost integration and data integrity. Develop SOPs and best practices to ensure consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement. Training & Team Development
Design and deliver training programs for accounting staff and cross-functional teams to ensure understanding of cost accounting principles and internal processes. Mentor and develop the accounting team to build capabilities and improve overall performance. Financial Reporting & Strategy
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes. Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning with meaningful financial analysis. Partner with leadership to improve profitability through cost control, pricing strategies, and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior cost accounting role. Strong background in cost accounting, including job costing and standard costing in a manufacturing or project-based environment. Proven experience leading process improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and lead teams. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications. Experience working in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment. Strong business acumen with a results-oriented mindset. Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive cross-functional collaboration.
