Certified Medical Assistant 2 - Sign On Bonus at University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology. This is a full-time opportunity to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The University of Miami is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Responsibilities
Abides by the standards for ethical behavior, therapeutic communication, and protecting the privacy of patient information. Assists providers with physical examinations by preparing treatment/exam rooms with proper supplies, instruments, and materials. Understands the importance of medical and surgical asepsis. Prepares patients for physician care with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures. Performs routine laboratory tests; performs vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and documents in patient records. Administers medication safely as directed by the physician and assists in patient care activities such as walking. Escorts and transports patients to various hospital locations; cleans and/or sterilizes medical instruments while observing sterile technique. Schedules patients for tests and completes required forms for laboratory work; provides patients with care instructions and information from their provider. Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation; orders, stocks, and inventories supplies; assists with clerical duties. Adheres to University and unit-level Policies & Procedures and safeguards University assets; ensures compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines. Department-specific functions include taking patient vitals and quality measures during in-person visits; assisting with telehealth intake; managing medication inventory; assisting in procedures (e.g., lumbar punctures, skin biopsies, nerve blocks); performing blood draws; and ensuring sterile technique. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Certification and licensing: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA or equivalent. Additional certification: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers; HIV & AIDS Certification as applicable. Experience: Minimum of 2 years previous experience; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
