RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS Essential Duties
As a part of the Sunrise team, support our Mission, Principles of Service and Core Values. The role includes but is not limited to the essential functions listed below. Medication Administration Provide the highest degree of quality care and services by administering medication and treatments in a safe organized manner. Review, read, notate, and initial the electronic health record to document and learn about pertinent information about residents. Receive medication updates from the Resident Care Director (RCD) or Wellness Nurse. Administer, assist with, and observe medications and treatments for each resident using the medication administration record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass ("Right" resident, medication, dosage, time, route, right to refuse). Ensure medications are passed according to times and utilizing the mobile med cart. Document and initial as medications are given and ensure appropriate documentation is completed for refusal or missed doses. Maintain confidentiality of all resident information including resident medication among other residents. Report all resident concerns and unavailable medications, observed while administering medication, to the RCD or Wellness Nurse. Restock medication cart after all medication passes. Assist in checking medication regardless of packaging system. Assess residents to determine need for "as needed" medication and appropriately document and report to supervisor. Count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager (MCM) or Lead Care Manager (LCM) each shift and report discrepancies. Maintain and clean the Medication Room, medication carts, and treatment carts for neatness and availability of medications; manage expired medications. Follow refill process for medications and notify RCD or Wellness Nurse if a new prescription is needed. Help residents maintain independence and promote dignity and physical safety adhering to Sunrise Principles of Service. Respond to each resident with empathy, mindful of their unique communication patterns, history, and basic human needs. Practice good standard care precautions of cleanliness, hygiene, and health. Notify RCD of any resident and/or family concerns. Attend daily Cross Over meetings facilitated by the LCM and participate in development of ISP plans. Risk Management and General Safety
Partner with the community team to ensure compliance with regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety, promote Risk Management programs, and adhere to safety rules. Practice safety procedures including PPE, fire safety, SDS, and Lockout Tagout practices. Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions immediately. Ensure cords, carts, and equipment are stored safely and do not block exits, complying with fire codes. Adhere to infection control techniques and proper disposal of bio-hazard materials. Report exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals immediately. Ensure oxygen tanks are stored safely and monitored at prescribed levels. Training and Team Contribution
Participate as a team member and work toward team goals. Demonstrate the Team Member Credo and Sunrise Principles of Service in daily interactions. Contribute to engagement programs and participate in engagement surveys and improvement planning. Attend regular meetings and trainings as directed; maintain required training compliance. Perform other duties as assigned. Core Competencies
Ability to make decisions in the resident’s best interest. Remain calm in difficult situations; handle multiple priorities and communicate effectively. Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Experience And Qualifications
High School diploma/GED accepted; may be required per state/provincial regulations. Maintain required certifications where applicable (CPR and First Aid). Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous experience working with seniors preferred; desire to serve and care for seniors. If applicable, drivers must sign the Driver job description and understand essential safety duties.
