Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting customers with product selection and education, supporting evaluations of Watchmaker products, and driving adoption by designing and executing experiments that demonstrate proof of concept for customer applications. The role involves collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and R&D, and providing world-class technical support from Watchmaker's Boulder HQ with occasional in-person visits to customer sites. Travel up to 20-30% to conferences and customer sites may be required.

Responsibilities:

Provide remote and in-person technical support to molecular diagnostics and other customer segments.

Record and track interactions with customers in Salesforce CRM.

Design and execute experiments and analyze resulting data in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Watchmaker customers to develop protocols and applications for products sold to molecular diagnostics and other customers.

Generate content for and author customer-facing collateral demonstrating workflows and applications using Watchmaker products.

Present technical content to customers remotely and in-person.

Attend conferences to provide support to customers, promote Watchmaker products, present technical content, and learn about industry trends and new technologies.

Travel to customer sites for trainings and to provide technical support.

Contribute to new product development ideation through articulation of customer feedback and identification of unmet customer needs.

Skills and Requirements:

Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field required.

Proven ability to execute molecular biology experiments including study design, lab work, and data interpretation with minimal supervision.

Experience with molecular biology and enzymology assay development and optimization, preferably related to molecular diagnostics.

Excellent molecular biology troubleshooting skills.

Deep understanding of enzymology and nucleic acid detection techniques (extraction, RT, PCR, qPCR, isothermal amplification, reporter assays); dPCR experience a plus.

Understanding of KPIs of clinical diagnostics assays; experience in a regulated environment is a plus.

Strong scientific communication skills; comfortable with public speaking.

Technical support experience preferred but not required.

NGS knowledge or experience preferred but not required.

Prior customer-facing experience and ability to provide technical support preferred but not required.

Compensation:

Base salary starts at $83,000-$87,000 plus bonus and equity. Actual pay depends on skills and experience. Eligible for Flexible Time Off, holidays, medical plan with employer contribution options, EAP, dental, vision, life/AD&D, paid parental leave, and a 401(k) with a 4% match.
