JOB OVERVIEW This is an exciting opportunity and an important role for the co‑op. This successful person should have the relevant experience and the vision to create strong marketing plans that connect our business needs with the needs of our customers. We are looking for someone who can help attract new customers, drive greater loyalty, and build the overall equity of our brands.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and lead strategic marketing vision for the co‑op’s business units (Wedge Lyndale, Wedge Linden Hills, and Co‑op Partners Warehouse) by creating multi‑channel marketing and communication initiatives including integrated content strategy, in‑store experience, digital strategy, advertising, public relations, and community outreach. Manage brand direction, development and strategy for all TCCP locations. Develop annual marketing plans to drive acquisition, retention and loyalty. Create a “customer journey” that helps develop greater customer loyalty and increases lifetime value of co‑op ownership. Oversee strategy and implementation of customer loyalty system. Lead and manage ownership database, communications and engagement.
Support TCCP Board of Directors in board candidate recruitment and election process, and in the planning and implementation of the co‑op’s Annual Meeting. Develop data sources for evaluating and understanding the customer profiles for shoppers at our retail locations. Work cross‑functionally with Director of Purchasing and Merchandising, and Store Directors to drive and develop external product partnerships for in‑store promotion. With the Director of Purchasing and Merchandising, facilitate and lead annual planning cycle for storewide owner celebrations and promotions; work cross‑functionally with Store Directors and all Department Managers.
Lead, manage and develop a team of direct reports as well as freelance designers, photographers and agency partners who are responsible for production of collateral (newsletter, coupons, outreach pieces, sales materials) and digital tactics that communicate our points of difference and reasons for believing. Oversight, management and production of all in‑store communications. Management of digital channels – social, email, website, Instacart and co‑op perks. Management of external community outreach partners, community events, Change Matters program, Co‑op Affordability Project, donation program. Ensure outreach efforts attract a diverse customer base, and that we are creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Event planning. Lead post‑analysis for marketing and outreach initiatives.
With the Director of CPW, plan and oversee execution of B‑to‑B marketing strategies to create growth in number of retail customers, and deepen sales and loyalty among existing customers. Represent TCCP in the broader community in leadership roles and opportunities that may include public speaking, education and media relations. Act as the media liaison for TCCP. Other duties as assigned.
Strategic leadership: serve on the Leadership Team of TCCP and work closely with the CEO, Finance Director, HR Director, Purchasing / Merchandising Director, Store Directors and other organizational leaders in setting strategic direction for the organization. Assist in evaluating viability of different growth options through a strategic lens, and act as a voice of the customers in terms of impact. Lead monthly Marketing and Merchandising meetings with a cross‑functional team to set the plans for all events for the organization. Drive strategy, collaboration and execution of all in‑store activation, signage, promotions, pop‑ups, sales, events and demos. Be an active member of two Board committees – Ownership and Nominations – to assist in planning and execution of owner relations, annual owner meeting, board candidate nominations, and the full board election cycle. Attend board meetings as requested by the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 7 years’ marketing experience.
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience in retail, business‑to‑business, and/or food industries.
Supervisory experience, including participation in hiring and performance management, coaching, and discipline.
Experience translating brand positioning into effective compelling storytelling.
Experience in digital marketing and social media.
Knowledge of customer relationship management.
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to give clear instructions.
Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced team environment while balancing multiple priorities.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office.
Demonstrated ability to work with customers and coworkers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ability to work with TCCP to create an inclusive environment where all are welcomed.
Ensure hiring supports TCCP goals for diversity and inclusion.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time processing on a computer.
Ability to frequently communicate, present and exchange information and express oneself.
Ability to occasionally lift files and boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
