Job Title Sr. Manager - Strategic Global Sourcing
Location Hybrid (4 days in office)
Pay Range $130,000 - $160,000
Position Purpose & Focus The Sr. Manager of Strategic Global Sourcing at Phillips Industries plays a key role in driving cost reductions while upholding product quality and delivery reliability. This position develops strategic supplier partnerships that foster innovation and reduce risk, ensuring contract compliance, ethical sourcing, and alignment with sustainability goals. Through data-driven management, the role enhances sourcing efficiency, supplier performance, and overall supply chain resilience, while strengthening collaboration across Procurement, Engineering, Operations, and Quality to maximize supplier value. The position reports directly to the VP of Purchasing.
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Develop and execute comprehensive global sourcing strategies that align with business goals and operational requirements.
Analyze spend categories, supplier markets, and cost structures to identify sourcing opportunities and drive value creation.
Lead supplier selection processes, RFQs, and competitive bid events to ensure optimal cost, quality, and service outcomes.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Conduct supplier audits, performance reviews, and corrective action plans using defined KPIs (cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness).
Drive supplier innovation initiatives to enhance product design, lead time reduction, and cost efficiency.
Contracting & Negotiation
Negotiate strategic agreements, pricing terms, and long-term supply contracts to secure favorable commercial and service terms.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, ethical sourcing standards, and applicable legal/regulatory requirements.
Manage supplier risk profiles and develop contingency strategies to ensure supply continuity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance teams to translate technical and commercial requirements into sourcing strategies.
Support new product introduction (NPI) projects through early supplier involvement and sourcing readiness.
Collaborate with internal teams to optimize logistics, inventory levels, and working capital through supplier agreements and forecasting alignment.
Leverage supplier management systems and ERP data to analyze performance, track savings, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Monitor global market conditions, industry trends, and geopolitical developments impacting supply, cost, and risk exposure.
Recommend and implement best practices in global sourcing and supplier development.
Lead, coach, and develop sourcing professionals to strengthen category and supplier management capabilities.
Champion lean sourcing practices, supplier consolidation, and digital procurement tools.
Contribute to strategic initiatives assigned by the Vice President – Purchasing to enhance global procurement excellence.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of six (6) additional years of directly relevant professional experience may be considered.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in global sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within a multinational manufacturing organization.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and supplier management tools.
Sourcing Expertise: Demonstrated success developing and executing global sourcing strategies that achieve cost, quality, and delivery improvements while mitigating risk.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, manage supplier partnerships, and influence cross-functional collaboration.
Negotiation & Communication: Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels and across cultures.
Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions to optimize total cost of ownership and supplier performance.
Certifications: APICS (CPIM), CPSM, or CSCP certification preferred.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 25% to supplier and company sites as needed.
