Department: California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). Position: Information Technology Specialist I (Technical/Data). Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid Telework). Design, develop, test, and maintain data pipelines to integrate data from departmental application systems and third-party systems into the Enterprise Data Warehouse to meet organizational data needs and advance data maturity and roadmaps. Coordinate data integration tasks by managing workload migration from development to testing and production to establish an optimal development and production support process. Assist in identifying data-related needs and recommend process improvements to the data management team, data governance committee, and program partners. Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, data science teams, and stakeholders to refine business and technical requirements for data and analytic initiatives. Propose data ingestion, preparation, integration, and operationalization techniques to address department data project requirements. Train data scientists, data analysts, and other data consumers in data modeling, curation, and preparation techniques. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a quantitative discipline is desired. Knowledge and experience with data engineering principles. Desirable: Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Amazon Glue/Lambda, FME, Matillion), BI tools (Tableau, Power BI), data warehousing concepts, OLAP, and data modeling. Strong SQL skills; programming experience in C#, Java, R, or Python is desired. Experience producing requirements documents and data model diagrams; excellent communication and customer service skills; knowledge of project management best practices. Desirable Qualifications We Look For
Experience with ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, Amazon Glue/Lambda, FME, Matillion. Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) and Data Warehouse concepts (OLAP, Star/Snowflake schemas). End-to-end data solution experience with data models, pipelines, and BI products. Advanced SQL; experience with one or more of C#, Java, R, Python. Ability to document requirements and data models; strong communication and collaboration skills; knowledge of project management best practices. Special Requirements
