Overview
Maintenance Manager role at Simmons Foods. Leads a technical team of Mechanics, Technicians and Maintenance Planners to drive reliability, standard approaches, and production results while developing skills and teamwork. Essential Position Responsibilities
Establishes maintenance schedules and determines proper setup and layout of work to simplify plant operations and reduce downtime. Directs mechanical repair to correctly repair equipment. Quickly evaluates mechanical and electrical malfunctions and makes recommendations. Performs problem analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Works with the management team to develop new processes and methods. Drives consistency and standards in the Planner/Scheduler team. Maintains effective relationships with department managers to foster innovation and cooperation. May interact with engineers and vendors. Develops and manages the maintenance budget for maintenance, repair operations and capital expenditures. Directs scheduling, planning and coordination of major equipment installations. Oversees maintenance projects, including scheduling and coordination of outside contractors. Prepares AFEs with justification, cost estimates and drawings; tracks AFEs to keep projects on budget. Responsible for utilizing and implementing a work order system for planning daily tasks, weekly Preventive Maintenance, and tracking work back to equipment asset history. Develops and delivers standard methods and procedures in Maintenance and Reliability to deliver consistent, replicable results. Provides technical leadership for the evolution from reactive to proactive maintenance. Coordinates tracking and reporting of reliability/maintenance KPIs. Develops processes driven by KPI data to improve maintenance programs. Demonstrates knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical safety and preventative maintenance programs. Manages employees. Directs and supervises work activities, collaborates with HR to screen, interview and hire candidates, administers disciplinary actions, and supports performance improvement actions. Monitors performance and supports compensation decisions within guidelines. Fosters a positive working environment aligned with Simmons values. Participates as a team member; supports the development and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; attends team meetings and contributes to achieving synergy within the organization. Familiar with Simmons operating systems and LEAN principles; understands responsibilities to maintain systems and communicate improvement ideas. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Qualifications & Competencies
Technical Experience:
Minimum 5 years in maintenance plus 2 years at a managerial level. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, safety and preventative maintenance programs. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Industry Experience:
Preference for leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment or equivalent. Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering and/or 4 years related maintenance experience. Competencies:
