Job Purpose and Summary Pharmacy Managers lead and develop a pharmacy team to provide exceptional patient care, promote best practices, and lead through change. They support program awareness, onboarding of new team members, and recognition of colleagues. They model best practices on the bench, provide meaningful patient counseling, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities
Direct and effective management of the pharmacy team, including coaching and follow-up to strengthen performance
Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
Contribute to positive patient experiences with empathy and collaboration with the patient’s healthcare team
Deliver immunizations where permissible and coach Pharmacists and Technicians to do the same
Manage pharmacy inventory with focus on protecting cold chain products
Conduct onboarding for new Technicians and Pharmacists, ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure
Ensure operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues as needed
Partner with Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline and ensure cross-training for licensure
Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists where applicable; deliver performance reviews and close gaps
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; manage pharmacy scheduling
Review business reports and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance
Foster a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; encourage feedback and take action
Maintain clinical and technical skills; pursue trainings and CMEs as required
Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible
Understand and comply with all federal/state laws and CVS Health policies; protect patient privacy and ensure a safe workplace
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Essential Functions
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot between tasks, ensure prescription labeling accuracy
Customer service and team orientation: proactively help others with empathy
Communication skills: clear verbal and written communication; active listening
Mathematical reasoning: determine days supply, quantity, and related calculations
Problem resolution: address challenging interactions with sound judgement
Physical demands: stand for extended periods, lift and move items, reach, and perform tasks requiring dexterity
Team management and leadership: lead by example, delegate, motivate, coach, provide feedback, and address performance
Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
3-5 years of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings
Willingness to work in the home store and across the market as needed
Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 Time Type Full time Pay Range $65.00 - $82.00 This range is the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for positions at this level. Offers depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors. Eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission, or incentive programs in addition to base pay.
