The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00 per hour based on skills and experience. This position is non-exempt and overtime eligible. Summary
The Certified Medication Technician is responsible for administering medications to designated residents in a safe and organized manner. Responsibilities include assisting with medications, documenting medication assistance, and resident care. The Certified Medication Technician must have strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with residents, their families, and all team members. They must observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition or behavior. They also perform all other duties of a Resident Assistant.
Responsible For
Ensure that Victory Housing, Inc. Mission Statement takes precedence over all decisions and actions.
Adhere to Victory Housing policies and procedures, COMAR 10.07.14 regulations, and County, State and Federal guidelines including DOH, CDC, CMS, and OSHA.
Implement universal precautions and infectious disease control protocols; wear assigned PPE as policy and required.
Complete all training including orientation, COMAR 10.07.14 requirements, monthly in-services, HIPAA, and required personal care and skills modules. Participate in safety and disaster drills as assigned.
Coordinate with Registered Nurse/LPN on matters relating to the Clinical Program and Medication Delivery System.
Read and document pertinent information in the Communication Log for resident updates, status changes, and observations.
Administer medications and treatments using the EMAR platform, including preparing medications for med-pass with attention to: correct drug, correct resident, correct route, correct dosage, correct time, and correct charting; ensure medications are not expired.
Deliver medications to the resident in an appropriate location; maintain confidentiality of resident medication information.
Check resident identity before administering medication and offer water or prescribed accompaniments; observe swallowing and document completion in EMR. If EMR is down, document on paper MAR immediately.
Document resident concerns during med-pass and report any refusals to the Health, Wellness Delegating RN/LPN/Coordinator.
Answer resident questions regarding medications. Return non-dispensed medications to the cart and secure the cart after med-pass.
Wash hands before and after medication pass and adhere to universal precautions.
Prepare residents’ medications for short-term absences from the Community and document legibly.
Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the medication cart and Wellness Center; restock supplies as needed.
Adhere to narcotics count policy; count, verify, sign and date counts at the beginning and end of each shift.
If a health delegate is unavailable, assist with medication delivery by pharmacy and report discrepancies to the Delegating RN/LPN/Coordinator.
Assist with resident care and physical support as needed (e.g., after a fall, during transfers, with toileting, or during emergencies).
Initiate and complete incident reports per policy and promote resident dignity and team collaboration.
Serve meals in the dining room with hospitality and customer service; assist with meal service as needed and ensure meals are served at safe temperatures.
Answer help and call bells promptly and assist with professional telephone communications.
Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Must be current on all vaccinations including COVID-19 and receive CDC-recommended booster doses.
