Job Summary This position requires an individual with abilities and an interest in animal studies, including but not limited to the delivery of therapeutics, dissection, and husbandry at the FIU Center for Translational Sciences in Port St. Lucie, FL. Conducts mouse pneumonia studies using established animal models, employing microbiological techniques, and maintaining colonies of transgenic/knockout mice. The lab focuses on investigating the mechanisms of pulmonary diseases, particularly regarding the roles of immune and epithelial cells during respiratory infections, the application of molecular and cellular tools, and the use of peptide drugs as therapeutics.
Responsibilities
Performs animal experiments to produce data for publication in support of the research program.
Manages and maintains mouse colonies, including performing breeding and genotyping to ensure the sustainability of the mouse colonies.
Conduct experiment-related standard assays.
Maintain an accurate and well-organized record of laboratory activities.
Efficiently organize personal laboratory activities and interact with senior laboratory members in the establishment of daily activities.
May be required to supervise high school students during summer camp.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with laboratory animals.
Experience performing lab experiments.
