RN Manager Cardiac Medical Unit Portsmouth, NH (960691) Responsibilities

Assures the delivery of quality department / clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards. Promotes a positive and professional image and is a role model, coach, mentor, problem solver and resource for staff and peers. Responsible and accountable for the overall operations of their assigned department, including development of department goals aligned with the hospital mission, management of personnel, and budgeting accountability. Responsible for management of FTE component of staffing budgets. Maintains 24-hour responsibility for nursing care provided on the unit. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team to assure delivery of optimum age-appropriate patient care. Provides hospital supervision as required by the Division of Nursing. Participates in the development of evidence-based standards of care for the clinical area of responsibility. Ensures employee compliance with hospital and Human Resources policies and procedures. Ensures employee competency and education requirements are satisfied per hospital policy. Participates in the Performance Improvement Program as defined by the organization and the Division of Nursing. Assures the provision of a safe employee/patient environment. Maintains knowledge related to the operations of the department. Works collaboratively with all levels of the hospital interdisciplinary team and promotes the team concept within the department and hospital wide. Demonstrates positive customer service and fosters positive employee relations, ensuring staff adhere to the Customer Service Behavioral Standards. Supports hospital initiatives and projects and functions as a positive change agent. Participates in community service. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Develops and submits departmental goals and objectives aligned with Nursing and hospital strategic plans as required by the Division Administrator. Conducts interviews, hires, evaluates, counsels and terminates employees per hospital policy. Schedules staff based on budgeted staffing plan and department needs. Updates FTE component of staffing budgets on a continuous basis. Develops and submits operating and capital budgets and reports variances as required to the Division Administrator. Ensures compliance with governmental, state regulations and accreditation standards. Ensures completion of staff orientation, annual and ongoing competency and education requirements. Provides house supervision as required by the Division of Nursing. Attends and participates in educational programs to maintain current knowledge to manage the department. Periodically provides direct patient care as needed. Participates in ongoing Performance Improvement initiatives to support quality metrics such as core measures and patient satisfaction as required. Develops evidence-based standards of care, policies and procedures as needed for the area of responsibility. Ensures service excellence initiatives and achieves organizational goals for patient satisfaction. Attends all meetings as required and conducts staff meetings monthly with minutes. Utilizes multiple methodologies to communicate information. Adheres to safety standards for employees and patients. Participates in committees, task forces, projects, etc. as required. Submits all other work reports as required/requested by the Division Administrator. Maintains patient rights and nursing ethics in practice and adheres to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals. Delegates activities to staff according to the NYS Nurse Practice Act and adheres to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics. Maintains a culture of shared governance and aligns initiatives with the hospital's Magnet program components. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education & Experience Requirements

Current NY State License BSN required or plan to complete by specified timeline; discuss with Senior VP of Patient Care Services/CNO if applicable. BLS certification (American Heart Association) required ACLS certification (American Heart Association) preferred unless department requires otherwise CNML or area of specialty certification preferred, but must be obtained within 3 years of hire Demonstrates basic management skills; previous management/leadership experience preferred Minimum of 2 years relevant acute care experience Ability to function as a staff RN and demonstrate excellence in clinical skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Contact
