Overview

RN – 2E Cardiac Progressive Care Unit, Full-Time, 36 hrs/week, 7:00 am – 7:30 pm, every other weekend/holiday. Summa Health System – Barberton Campus. Primary patient population: cardiac-related issues and stroke patients. Unit size: 34-bed unit. Target nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 to 1:5 (subject to change based on census and patient care needs). Summary of Nursing Role

Guided by basic nursing principles across biological, physical, and psycho-social sciences, the RN uses evidence-based judgment to deliver nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources to deliver care for patients, their families, and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health. Formal Education Required

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but must obtain a BSN within three (3) years of employment Graduate of a CCNE- or ACEN-accredited nursing program Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio Experience And Training Required

PRN RNs must have at least one year of recent experience in the area of practice One year of related RN experience required for weekend option positions Additional related experience or preparation may be required for specialty units Other Skills, Competencies And Qualifications

Full range of motion; ability to lift and move patients; dexterity and hand–eye coordination Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Normal corrected vision and hearing Ability to work under stress or irregular hours Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazards common to a clinical environment Current Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS within six months for new critical care/telemetry/PACU/ED hires or upon hire if experienced Population Specific Competency

Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non-Violet Crisis Intervention) Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations, respecting dignity and individual needs Physical Demands
