The Respiratory Care Department provides cutting-edge clinical care to critically ill patients. Highlights of the therapies delivered include: Ventilator management Including the utilization of an ARDS protocol Advanced vent modes (APRV, ASV, NAVA) Inhaled Nitric Oxide Administration Airway Clearance Therapies (utilizing an Airway Clearance Protocol) Airway Management Non-Invasive Ventilation Oxygen Therapy Emergency Response Teams Emergency Department Care (Level I Trauma Center) Post-Surgical Ventilator Weaning and Care (including open heart surgery, liver transplant) Indirect Calorimetry Bedside PFTs Inpatient Sleep studies Point of Care testing ICU Mobilization Multidisciplinary tracheostomy management and speaking valves Educational activities: clinical rotations, annual respiratory education for nursing and physicians, departmental continuing education lectures Respiratory Therapist Fulfills the needs of patients, families and community by performing routine and intensive therapy, diagnostic procedures, and patient assessments in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. Maintains and stocks respiratory equipment; ensures ventilator and life support equipment are operable. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written; strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities; basic computer and customer service skills; ability to address needs of the population served. Minimum of 0 to 1 year full-time experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist in an acute care setting.
