Pharmacy Operations Manager at Walgreens. This role focuses on day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities, and ensuring an efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Requires supervision of pharmacy technicians and adherence to laws, regulations, and company policies. Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where state and federal laws/regulations allow; ensure efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician where applicable. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within authorized company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Manage training, coaching, and performance, including decisions regarding performance management, discipline, and termination. Engage customers and patients, greet and assist with products and services, resolve complaints, respond to requests in a timely manner, and promote a positive customer experience. Build relationships by anticipating needs and offering services to enhance the patient experience and healthcare services. Assist pharmacists in delivering patient care including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification where allowed by law. Support healthcare service offerings such as vaccines and health screenings where permitted by law. Delegate non-clinical work in the pharmacy under applicable policies and laws; ensure on-time task completion and accountability for workflow. Prepare and file reports for the Pharmacy Manager, pharmacist, and government agencies as directed. Manage core pharmacy operations, schedule daily activities, allocate hours, maintain cleanliness and stocking of supplies, and ensure compliance with inventory management and asset protection practices. Drive technology and process rollouts, lead change initiatives, and coordinate with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure proper recordkeeping and security safeguards. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities and understand roles in ensuring compliance with Good Faith Dispensing requirements. Monitor licensure, registrations, and certifications for pharmacy staff; use Walgreens resources to document licensure status and ensure compliance with regulations. Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities; support resolution of insurance claims and reduction of payment rejections; engage with third-party audits as needed. Support store and pharmacy leadership in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service; coordinate community outreach and immunization events as directed by the Pharmacy Manager. Lead performance management of technicians, including disciplinary actions, attendance, and accountability; foster engagement and action planning to improve performance. Hire, onboard, train, and schedule technicians; ensure timely training completion and adherence to company policies for scheduling and training. Identify knowledge gaps in pharmacy operations and support the training of team members through hands-on coaching or learning modules. Monitor that licensure, registrations, and certifications are active and in good standing; document status using available resources and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Maintain PTCB certification and relevant state certifications/registrations; pursue ongoing professional development and training as required by the company. Participate in professional development, seek feedback, and utilize mentorship to enhance performance. Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).* Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Prior Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on the last performance evaluation.
