Overview
Electrical Project Engineer - QA/QC (Central Region) role at Black & Veatch. This is an employee-owned company where people are Black & Veatch, focused on sustainable infrastructure and growth. The role involves quality control/quality assurance within substation projects and collaboration with the design team. Responsibilities
Function as a quality control/quality assurance engineer within the substation quality management group (QMG). Perform QA/QC of substation design packages, including physical design, protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Collaborate with the substation design team. Develop and apply engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects; perform engineering calculations following standard methods and principles; manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Coordinate with internal/external team members on moderately complex projects; assist with identifying client interests and drivers on high voltage substation projects and communicate these to the project team. Mentor and guide junior staff; participate in resource planning and knowledge management; support continuous improvement and change management efforts. Provide related guidance to others and maintain compliance with B&V quality program. Assist with business development or pursuit activities as appropriate and maintain adherence to policies and procedures. Location
The ideal candidate will be located or willing to relocate to one of the following U.S. Central Regional Power Offices: Kansas City (Overland Park, KS); Houston (TX); Minneapolis (Bloomington, MN); Chicago (IL). Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program (home country or where the professional is practicing). Minimum of 5 years related work experience. Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) as per applicable laws and regulations. Preferred Qualifications
Substation QA/QC Reviews – Quality Assurance/Quality Checks. Substation design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls. Experience coordinating and communicating with Clients, Multidisciplinary Leads and Project Managers. Professional Engineer (PE) License. Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Programs. Certifications & Work Environment
