The Building Services Worker Lead is a key position within the Facilities Management Division’s Building Services unit. Reporting directly to a Manager, this incumbent will manage day-to-day custodial operations within an assigned building or collection of buildings. The Building Services Worker Lead supervises crews of approximately 6–10 employees who are responsible for care, cleaning, and minor maintenance of campus buildings and fixtures. The role communicates information and training material related to productivity, safety, and work performance; provides guidance to Building Service Workers on personnel concerns, performance, and stakeholder satisfaction. The Lead will collaborate with other Building Service Workers Leads to ensure seamless operations, equipment recommendations, and supply purchases. This is a working leadership role in which the Lead may perform the duties of their employees if short-staffed. This position is considered Key and Essential and can be recalled 24/7 in an emergency. Responsibilities

Oversee and direct custodial operations for a crew of approximately 6–10 employees in an assigned building or collection of buildings. Provide emergency support as needed. Direct custodial cleaning and operations, including light bulb maintenance accessible from 8’ ladders. Focus on team performance, employee development, and overall work results; ensure stakeholder satisfaction. Provide training and communicate expectations to staff; collaborate with shifts to ensure seamless operations (routines, equipment, and supplies). Perform duties of staff as required when short-staffed. Additional Duties and Time Allocation

Ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of operations (Review work assignments, priorities, service programs, and procedures). Stay current on professional best practices. Foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders; meet regularly with stakeholders and resolve issues; establish and ensure expectations are met. Employee development: collaborate with manager and HR for employee relations; monitor and mentor performance; coordinate training with the Training Group. Stewardship of resources: oversee ordering, stock, and use of supplies and cleaning chemicals; ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment; manage staff routines and time efficiently. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications. Preferred Qualifications: At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience overseeing custodial staff Strong understanding of custodial supplies, materials, cleaning equipment, techniques, and industry standards Proficient in operation and maintenance of custodial tools and machines used in large facilities/campus buildings Proven ability to coordinate, schedule, and supervise custodial work for a crew of ~6–10 employees Exceptional leadership skills that foster employee development, accountability, and performance feedback Physical Demands

Lift up to 40 lbs. Frequently bend, squat, lift, kneel, and work with hands above head. Work from 8’ ladders. Travel to buildings in area of responsibility. Move throughout buildings to perform building inspections. Driving as needed to perform job duties. Other Information
