Job Summary:
Enbridge is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer IV to oversee and manage electrical and control systems design for capital expansion and maintenance projects. This role requires close coordination with internal teams and external engineering firms to ensure designs meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and project budget and schedule.
Key Responsibilities Project Oversight & Technical Leadership
Manage and oversee third-party engineering firms for electrical/control systems design.
Ensure adherence to Enbridge standards, specifications, codes, and regulations.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Lead scope definition, scheduling, capital cost estimation, and risk assessment.
Offer support during construction and commissioning phases.
Incorporate lessons learned into future project design strategies.
Electrical Design & Engineering
Lead design efforts for high-horsepower (10,000–30,000 HP) motor and turbine-driven centrifugal compressor stations.
Ensure compliance with NEC standards and hazardous area classifications.
Power systems:
120/208V systems: lighting panels, convenience outlets.
480V systems: MCCs, starters, motors, transformers, ATS, generators.
4160V systems: switchgear, relaying, metering, synchronous motors.
Grounding and cathodic protection systems.
Perform cable/conduit sizing, overload sizing, and related calculations.
Controls & Instrumentation
Design and review PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley or equivalent).
Develop motor control circuits, valve actuators (electric/pneumatic), and PID loop controllers.
Implement Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).
Instrumentation experience including:
Smart/analog transmitters (e.g., Rosemount), pressure/temp/level sensors.
RTDs, thermocouples, flame and gas detection systems.
Stakeholder Coordination
Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, and Engineering teams.
Regularly communicate project status, risks, and design updates.
Review vendor quotations, evaluate technical merit, and make recommendations.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering and project management.
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
Strong knowledge of power systems, control systems, and instrumentation.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead complex projects.
Effective communicator across technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders.
