Background
Anchored in UNICEF, Generation Unlimited (GenU) is a global Public-Private-Youth Partnership. The Global Volunteer Initiative leads on the Green Rising initiative, working with young people to build climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods. The consultant will support implementation of Green Rising, including the Green Rising Investment Facility, by contributing to the global Green Rising strategy and providing tailored advice to UNICEF country offices. The consultant will help develop multiple strategy streams and draft fundraising proposals and communications. Some travel is required. The supervisor is the head of the Global Volunteer Initiative (GVI) within GenU/UNICEF.
Scope Of Work Support UNICEF country offices and centres of excellence from conceptualization through execution to launch, scale and/or adapt Green Rising offerings by facilitating strategy workshops and providing regular technical/strategy support.
Onboard and capacitate new/existing in-country staff focused on Green Rising priorities.
Prepare fundraising proposals and donor reports related to Green Rising.
Draft external communications and event proposals to showcase the Green Rising, in collaboration with GenU MarComms.
Advise on and draft global strategy for the Green Rising.
Facilitate events that bring together the Community of Practice for practitioners across UNICEF working with youth on climate and sustainable livelihoods.
Terms Of Reference / Key Deliverables Launch a new Green Rising program in at least five additional Country Offices; design and facilitate a Green Rising strategy workshop using Human-Centred-Design methodologies; prepare a workshop report.
Conduct 10 onboarding/coaching calls for new/existing programme staff to implement the program.
Provide technical/strategy support to at least eight country offices and conduct 40+ calls to sustain, grow and report on their Green Rising programmes.
Support the launch and growth of the Green Rising Investment Facility; refine and update 3 strategy documents and 3 fundraising pitches.
Prepare funding proposals and pitch decks in collaboration with the GVI team; target at least two potential donors for funding.
Draft donor reports in collaboration with GenU colleagues and country offices for funded programs.
Advise on and draft communications around the Green Rising for 2025 and 2026; source content from implementing countries; draft website updates and multiple stories; plan events and COMMS for COPs.
Draft the Green Rising global strategy and align with the organization-wide Sustainability and Climate Action Plan.
Travel
Travel: TBC – International missions to Nigeria, Brazil and Egypt.
Qualifications
Education : A first University Degree in a relevant field with 2 additional years of experience or an Advanced University Degree; Master’s degree in public policy, social sciences, or related field is preferred. Fluency in English required. Knowledge/Experience/Skills :
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in volunteer and public engagement work.
Significant experience developing, delivering, and optimizing volunteer initiatives with teams.
Experience facilitating strategies with multiple stakeholders across global contexts; ability to tailor engagement to different issues, audiences, cultures, and government systems.
Knowledge of digital tools and trends in volunteering and public engagement.
Experience facilitating human-centered design workshops, building capacity, and internal communications.
Experience writing fundraising proposals and slide decks; excellent verbal and interpersonal communication; detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines.
Solutions-driven with client services orientation; developing-country experience or familiarity with emergencies is an asset; UNICEF experience is an asset.

Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system with: (a) upload of academic credentials; (b) financial proposal detailing costs per deliverable and total lump-sum (USD); travel costs and per diem if applicable; other estimated costs (visa, health insurance, living costs); availability; (c) note that emergent duty travel expenses are covered by UNICEF; (d) current health insurance; (e) payment is linked to deliverables.
