It is a chance to shape and lead a values-driven people strategy for a mission-focused nonprofit. We’re looking for someone who is excited to: Champion culture and equity. Lead organizational initiatives that strengthen belonging, equity, and inclusivity for staff and the youth we serve. Build relationships. Partner closely with staff and leadership to foster an environment where people feel valued, supported, and motivated. Lead strategically. Drive both the day-to-day HR functions and the big-picture strategies that grow our people and culture. Be a trusted advisor. Guide managers through employee relations, performance management, and organizational development with integrity and compassion. This is a high-impact human resources leadership role for someone who thrives in both strategy and hands-on execution. You’ll influence the entire employee lifecycle and ensure TGTHR continues to be a place where staff can do their best work in service to young people. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the organization’s primary HR point of contact, responsible for all HR functions. Lead all HR functions across recruitment, onboarding, training, development, retention, and offboarding. Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates in compliance with Colorado, federal, and local laws. Serve as a thought partner to leadership, bringing a people-centered and equity-focused lens to organizational strategy and workforce planning. Support managers with employee relations, coaching, performance management, and documentation. Manage benefits, payroll coordination, and compliance with employment law, insurance requirements, and grant/funder guidelines. Manage benefits administration, leave of absence tracking, unemployment claims, and workers’ compensation. Lead and measure justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives that move beyond statements into meaningful action. Understand and be able to react accordingly to employee dynamics and assist managers in conflict resolution in the workplace. Analyze HR data to inform continuous improvement. COMPENSATION The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $80,000 to $90,000/yr. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS A minimum of six years of progressive HR experience, with at least two years independently managing full HR functions. The minimum experience may include one or both of the following: A Bachelor’s and/or Graduate degree in Human Resources plus four years of professional experience in management or leadership positions. A minimum of six years of professional experience in Human Resources management or leadership roles. Current HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) preferred. Track record of successfully leading equity, inclusion, and culture initiatives with measurable results. Strong working knowledge of Colorado employment law and nonprofit employment practices. Full-cycle recruiting experience including managing certification requirements when onboarding new employees. Experience managing benefits programs including developing a total compensation approach, open enrollment, and managing costs through vendor management. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a commitment to collaboration. Experience in small or mid-size organizations, ideally nonprofits. Demonstrated ability to independently handle sensitive employee relations issues. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in administering and managing HRIS systems such as Paylocity. Proficiency in Google applications including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, and Sheets. TGTHR primarily uses Google Workspace business management software tools, with a heavy reliance on Gmail and Drive. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods of working on a computer. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. The ability to communicate accurate information and ideas, written and in conversation, so others will understand. Multiple days per week attendance at TGTHR’s Boulder administrative office and occasional travel to program locations in Boulder in Denver. TGTHR is a drug-free workplace.
