Overview The Manager Materials Planning will be responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple production planners to meet schedule requirements and customer commitments. Ensure team operational metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met. Facilitate cross‑functional root cause problem solving (RCPS). Drive continuous improvement of the production line.
Responsibilities
Supervises planners in the production cell; includes staff selection, performance management (evaluation and discipline), coaching, training and employee development, and ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
Actively develops a high‑performance team with the skills needed to conduct effective performance dialogues.
Conducts process confirmations to ensure standard work processes are being followed; identifies and addresses non‑compliance, looking for continuous improvement opportunities. Ensures all operational processes are carried out in accordance with quality systems and procedures.
Ensures 5S practices are adhered to and sustained within the work area and that Safety, Health and Environmental compliance is included as part of everyday activities.
Ensures that KPI and other visual management boards are maintained for the manufacturing cell; reacts to metrics, implementing processes to improve metrics and lead SIOP.
Encourages employee participation through facilitating performance dialogues and encouraging employees to elevate issues, identify root cause using 5 Whys or other tools, make suggestions and take corrective actions.
Introduces, motivates, and coaches continuous improvement with department team and processes.
Identifies problems such as part shortages or process issues, facilitates resolution, or elevates the problem/issue to manager.
Identifies opportunities to eliminate waste, makes suggestions and participates in continuous improvement activities.
Supports the quarterly obsolescence process to ensure inventory is properly reviewed and dispositioned.
Manages and controls all on‑hand materials to support the manufacturing process.
Leads systemic analysis of transactional errors and works with other functional groups (e.g., Stockroom, Procurement, and Finance) to resolve them.
Provides training or facilitates training as required to meet training/cross‑training needs.
Interfaces with other departments to provide feedback and gain information needed to support success of the work area.
Creates and implements development & performance plans for staff.
Conducts performance reviews in a timely fashion and gives clear and honest feedback.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications (Minimum)
Bachelor’s Degree.
3‑5 years of relevant experience.
Experience developing plans and schedules for Operations activities on assigned critical programs.
Experience in the development and maintenance of first‑unit flow plans and documents.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders for the development of manufacturing plans and schedules, ensuring that planning data items are properly maintained in the ERP system and are compatible with applicable program plans and schedules. Production planning experience in defense contracting, aerospace, or similar industry, required.
Position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware controlled by US export laws. Eligible for this position only if you are a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Certification in National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) and American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS) Certified in Production and Inventory Management (C.P.I.M.) preferred.
Prior people‑management experience in a manufacturing environment.
Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to effectively and efficiently multi‑task.
Excellent verbal, written and public speaking skills.
Understanding of supply‑chain principles including forecasting and replenishment.
Demonstrated teamwork skills.
Salary Range Manager Materials Planning: $103,218.83 – $154,828.24 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
