Overview
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring for an Investigative Program Specialist (Polygraph Examiner). This polygraph-required position applies the full range of polygraph investigative methodologies to resolve and complete administrative, civil, counterintelligence, and criminal investigations. Conduct polygraph examinations in support of CBP divisions and other DHS components, and with outside Federal, State, and local agencies as directed by management. Coordinate, plan, and administer polygraph examinations. Conduct pretest interviews to determine willingness and capability to submit to the examination. Evaluate physical and psychological suitability for testing to determine whether to conduct the examination. Prepare accurate, concise, logical, objective investigative reports for legal venues and brief managers; may testify in court in rare occasions. Conduct extended testing to resolve undecided issues, confirm admissions, or locate evidence as necessary. Qualifications
Qualifying at GS-12 or GS-13 levels requires specialized experience as described below, along with basic requirements for polygraph certification and education. Specialized Experience : GS-12: 1 year of specialized experience performing duties such as selecting polygraph techniques, analyzing physiological data, conducting in-depth interrogations when deception is indicated, identifying issues and evidence, and preparing forensic investigation reports for legal venues. GS-13: 1 year of specialized experience including adapting polygraph techniques to various situations, collecting evidence while maintaining legal standards, conducting in-depth interviews, thorough knowledge of rules of evidence and constitutional rights, and preparing objective reports for court or management. Basic Requirements : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; at least two years of investigative experience with a U.S. Government or other law enforcement agency; successful completion of a Psychophysiological Detection of Deception (PDD) polygraph examination; and be at least 25 years old.
