Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned Senior Director of Systems Completion to lead the planning, execution, and turnover of systems associated with MP Materials’ capital projects. This role will oversee the full lifecycle of commissioning and startup (Systems Completion) activities, ensuring seamless integration with construction, engineering, procurement, and operations. The Senior Director will define system boundaries, develop execution strategies, manage completions databases, and ensure regulatory compliance and readiness for operations. This role requires deep expertise in Systems Completion, commissioning workflows, and performance tracking across large-scale industrial projects. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Capital Projects, this role will collaborate closely with Corporate Leadership and site-based teams to drive the successful execution of MP Materials’ capital projects.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive Systems Completion strategies, philosophies, and execution plans.

Develop MP Materials standards for Systems Completion company wide.

Define system boundaries using engineering deliverables and smart tools (e.g., SPI, SPID, SP3D).

Lead deployment and administration of completions databases (e.g., Zenator, MC Plus, Smart Completions, or others).

Oversee development of commissioning test procedures, permit-to-work workflows, and handover documentation for standardization across Capital Projects.

Manage Systems Completion budgets, cost breakdown structures, and reporting requirements for project controls.

Coordinate with EPCs, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure alignment and readiness.

Lead schedule workshops and develop resource-loaded commissioning schedules integrated with construction and procurement.

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and support documentation for permits and certifications.

Supervise Systems Completion teams standards across downstream, midstream, and upstream projects, ensuring cross functional collaboration.

Track KPIs for discipline-level progress and performance monitoring.

Facilitate system walkdowns, punch list management, and final documentation processes.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field (Petroleum Engineering preferred).

15+ years of experience in Systems Completion, commissioning, and startup across industrial sectors.

Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, handover procedures, and asset management systems.

Proven leadership in managing Systems Completion teams and large-scale completions programs.

Proficiency in completions software (Zenator, MC Plus, Smart Completions) and scheduling tools (Primavera P6).

Preferred Skills

Experience in rare earth, petrochemical, LNG, or power generation projects.

Familiarity with CII standards, Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), and completion KPIs.

Ability to lead workshops, develop training programs, and mentor cross-functional teams.

Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical data into actionable insights.
