This position serves as a key member of the accounting leadership team, responsible for driving the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial operations. You will oversee core accounting functions, support integration of acquired entities, strengthen controls, and ensure high-quality financial reporting to management, investors, and lenders. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred) Must have been at the Controller level Experience as a Controller at a $400m+ company Minimum 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a construction, field services, or trades environment but open to other service / multi location businesses Experience in a private equity-backed organization or fast-growing middle-market company strongly preferred Working knowledge of Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems required Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and technical accounting principles Proven ability to navigate multi-entity structures and consolidations Excellent communication skills and a hands-on, detail-oriented approach Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and collaborate cross-functionally in a high-growth setting Primary Responsibilities
Oversee the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate consolidation across multiple business lines and entities Evaluate and refine accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting frameworks to align with best practices and compliance standards Serve as a business partner to operations leadership, providing financial insight to improve efficiency, performance, and profitability Lead technical accounting areas including revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and deferred revenue tied to maintenance contracts Manage integration of newly acquired businesses, including purchase accounting, system alignment, and reporting consistency Support the upcoming external audit transition and coordinate deliverables with new auditors and advisory partners Identify and remediate process and systems gaps related to inventory tracking, reconciliation, and cost allocation Prepare financial packages and management reporting for private equity stakeholders and lenders, including KPI and variance analysis Mentor and develop a small accounting team, promoting accountability, accuracy, and a continuous improvement mindset Seniority level
