Summary The Project Engineer Discipline Lead is responsible for directly managing a team of discipline engineers, providing technical direction, development, coaching, and workload leveling. Discipline Leads are also individual contributors who act as engineers on capital projects and may serve as the lead discipline engineer on large projects. They possess discipline expertise, understand code requirements, industry best practices, and internal standards. This is a working management position—the Process Design Discipline Leader will directly support a small portfolio of projects while managing a small team of Process Design Engineers. This role is accountable for all aspects of department performance including Safety & Environment, Quality, Reliability, Production, and Productivity. Responsibilities

Developing detailed project charters and scope through sponsor interviews Identifying, evaluating, and recommending alternatives for technology, cost, and operability Coordinating cost estimation for projects prior to project team kick-off Coordinating economic assessment for growth and cost savings projects Developing and maintaining process design tool kit Execute relief valve calculations and file updates Application of ASPEN simulation tools and the design, sizing, and specification of equipment Developing piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) Identification and application of all applicable internal and external standards, codes, and regulations Execution of all required process hazard assessments to ensure safety in designs Facilitation of the assembly of the process design package at completion of front-end definition, as required per discretion of Project Manager and/or Capital Engineering Manager Discipline Leadership and Qualifications

Discipline Leader Responsibilities: complete items for successful project execution, communicating scope, cost and schedule Participate in goal setting and performance processes with direct supervisor Provide feedback on discipline engineers to direct supervisor Member of site NWGs and regulatory committees Organizes training for team members relevant to discipline needs Maintain team atmosphere with effective communication to complete projects Maintain site engineering documentation systems including record prints, engineering drawings, SAP maintenance system data, and P&ID management Owner of discipline HSC SSGs Provide technical engineering expertise and responsibility to complete and sign off on tasks on the MOC form Report and communicate to Project leaders on all relevant project activities Time Confirmation entry in SAP Monthly updating of resource management tools Skills and Qualifications

Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Project planning and execution knowledge Ability to work independently or in multi-discipline teams Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and with external vendors Proven skills with ASPEN or an equivalent process simulation software B.S. in Chemical Engineering (required) Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in manufacturing operations and an engineering environment The range for this position is $125,000 - $155,000 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, and education.
