The Mayo Clinic Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG) needs a limited tenure Firmware Test Engineer for the test and validation of complex embedded systems. The candidate will perform moderately complex engineering functions which may include embedded software test and development, hardware testing and verification, and software for test. The individual will configure and verify collections of physiologic monitors to support studies and field tests. Specializations include real-time systems, especially ultra-low power portable systems, embedded C code implementations for various architectures. The role works under limited supervision to develop tests from provided functional requirements and may require some travel. Responsibilities
Perform moderately complex engineering functions including embedded software test and development, hardware testing and verification, and software for test. Configure and verify collections of physiologic monitors (up to 100 devices) to support studies and field tests. Apply technical knowledge and experience to perform tasks using state-of-the-art tools; learn new tools and techniques as needed. Participate in design reviews; obtain materials needed to complete assignments; analyze data; document testing and present results to internal audiences. Work under limited supervision to develop tests from provided functional requirements. Some travel may be required. Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience. Additional Qualifications
Experience in firmware development, test, and verification with familiarity in basic lab equipment (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.), logic analyzers, embedded IDEs, C programming language, embedded architectures, serial communication protocols, and general firmware/debug skills. Ability to generate tests from descriptions or functional requirements; document test plans, test executions, and present results; convey technical details to team members. Preferred familiarity with ARM Cortex M4, UART/I2C/SPI serial protocols, Python for testing, and version control (Git). RF communications debugging, testing, and verification; experience in multithreaded RTOS environments; familiarity with physiologic signals such as photoplethysmography, electrocardiograms, and activity monitoring. Ability to document instructions to aid in programming, debugging, testing, and verification; knowledge of embedded coding standards; experience participating in code and design reviews; data analysis skills for debugging. Ability to debug embedded systems in real time; experience using debuggers, breakpoints, watch variables, and RTOS mechanisms. Security and Eligibility
Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret clearance and adhere to security requirements as described in the NISPOM. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Exemption Status

$91,561.60 - $137,384.00 / year; education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Benefits Eligible
