Bredhoff & Kaiser has an immediate opening for a Litigation Paralegal. Our firm has a national, renowned legal practice in a broad range of matters affecting the rights and interests of employees, employee-benefit plans, labor organizations, and progressive not-for-profit organizations. Founded 70 years ago in Washington, DC, we are 33 lawyers and a dozen staff members with a shared commitment to empowering workers and the institutions that advocate for them. In service of that commitment, the Litigation Paralegal is expected to provide comprehensive support to attorneys and their matters throughout all stages of litigation, from initial investigation and filing the complaint, to attending trial and seeing matters through to the very end. Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced paralegal who has handled complex litigation to join our team. You will be expected to: Manage cases, calendars, and deadlines. Cite-check, Bluebook, proofread, format, and prepare documents for electronic and paper filing. Thoroughly review and understand applicable filing rules (e.g., local rules, judge’s standing orders) in the operative jurisdiction of a case. Help coordinate collection, processing, production, review, and management of ESI and organize and manage documents. Prepare for depositions, gathering potential evidence, coordinating logistics, and preparing witness files, exhibits, notices, subpoenas, notebooks, summaries, and notes of proceedings. Perform a breadth of substantive factual research and analytical work. Provide in-court assistance when we go to trial. Requirements
Candidate must possess: No less than 3 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal (pay is commensurate with skills and experience). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Proficiency in factual research using online and hard-copy research tools and legal research using Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, and PACER. Experience handling ESI in litigation and ability to utilize e-discovery review systems such as Relativity, Reef Review, and West Case Notebook. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, problem-solving capability, and ability to set priorities appropriately. Ability to exercise initiative to identify attorney and client needs and commitment to assist with whatever is needed. Proven capabilities to work well in teams, and to develop and maintain quality relationships with staff, lawyers, clients, and vendors. Additional details
