Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Mammography Technologist, FGP – Part Time – Riverhead. In this role, the successful candidate will perform medically prescribed diagnostic mammographic and bone density procedures; monitor and review staff work; assist in supervising technical and support staff; and facilitate patient flow through the Breast Imaging Center, working under general direction.

Job Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology; selects appropriate patient information from the HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPAA regulations; accesses patient information; schedules exams; and follows departmental procedures and protocols to ensure orders are verified and processed correctly. Uses standard procedures to identify the correct patient, reviews requisitions, understands the type of exam required, and confers with medical staff when clarification is needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates skill in equipment set‑up, utilization, and proper maintenance; performs visual and manual quality‑control checks of radiographic equipment; uses imaging and peripheral equipment safely and productively in accordance with hospital, departmental, and manufacturer procedures; observes and reports any equipment malfunction and notifies appropriate persons.

Independently implements patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards; explains the procedure and equipment to the patient; solves problems that arise during examinations using technical knowledge and innovation; alters examinations to maximize information based on patient condition; and confers with other technologists about previous approaches.

Follows accepted radiologic procedures and uses medical information to determine the protocol required for radiographic examination; consults policy and procedure manuals or reference materials to ensure actions conform to established protocols; follows special instructions indicated on a requisition; and recognizes and follows isolation precautions.

Minimum Qualifications Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology; New York State license to practice Diagnostic Radiology; ARRT certification; Advance Certification in Mammography; 1+ years of radiology experience; and good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications College graduate with two years of experience in mammography and quality‑control procedures.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state law on salary transparency. The hourly range for this role is $52.46 – $58.62. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other compensation.
