This role is focused on architecting, developing, and maintaining the Gold Layer ETL processes to transform raw data into actionable business insights within our intelligence ecosystem, partnering with cross-functional teams to enable self-service analytics and data governance across the organization. Direct and innovate the end-to-end orchestration of the Gold layer ETL processes, owning data cleansing, validation, standardization, enrichment, aggregation, and formatting with attention to performance, security, and scalability. Build and maintain data structures (business bays) with necessary data tables, business rules, logic, and mappings to transform raw data into dynamic insights. Apply advanced data management techniques to aggregate and disaggregate insights, enabling granular levels of reporting where possible. Document and organize data flow mapping to ensure data lineage, storage, processes, dependencies, integrity, and governance throughout the transformation process. Partnerships & Collaboration
Collaborate with the Center Data Strategy team to identify data gaps and leverage upstream ETL processes to minimize maintenance. Engage Marketing, Sales, Key Account Management, and Digital teams to prioritize sources, requirements, rules, logic, and mappings for transforming raw data into insights, while exploring additional possibilities. Collaborate with Data Science to automate data governance through AI/ML-informed approaches. Coordinate with IT to deploy scalable solutions and load data into a self-service platform and Commercial Intelligence Database. Drive user acceptance and adoption of the source of truth for Commercial Intelligence, Strategic Targeting, and Data Products Ecosystem (analytics, dashboards, and reports). Communicate and coordinate with Legal, Privacy & Compliance to align insights with regulatory requirements. Learning, Innovation & Compliance
Stay ahead of industry trends in data engineering, cloud analytics, and AI-driven insights. Promote best practices in data management and propose fresh approaches to enhance data solutions. Develop knowledge of Johnson & Johnson MedTech processes and capabilities relevant to market, competitive, and procedure-volume datasets. Champion automation and foster a cooperative environment conducive to innovation. Ensure personal and company compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and the J&J Credo. Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Relevant fields: Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related. 3–5 years of post-academic work experience; medical technology or healthcare field is highly desired. Proficiency in Data Modeling (Azure, Data Factory, Databricks, Purview) and ETL orchestration (Azure DevOps, CI/CD Pipelines). Strong skills in complex data transformation (SQL, Alteryx, Python, SAS, R) and data flow mapping with advanced data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau). Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; strong data management skills. Understanding of Data Models, MDM, Data Governance frameworks, integrating diverse data sources, and building self-service analytics platforms. Attention to detail with experience aggregating data and deriving insights. Experience with Microsoft Azure, Fabric, OneLake, and Power BI is highly preferred. Experience in Medical Technology is highly preferred. Proven leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills; excellent verbal and written communication for non-technical stakeholders. Effective project management with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong ability to identify problems and gaps to minimize future maintenance; results-oriented with the ability to translate business strategy into insights. The anticipated base pay range for this position is $91,000 to $147,200. Subject to the terms of respective plans, employees may participate in medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement and other benefits as described in company policies. Time off benefits include Vacation, Sick time, Holiday pay, Personal and Family Time, Parental Leave, and other leave options as defined by policy and location.
