Assistant Professor - Counseling, Leadership, Literacy, and Special Education (CLLSE)

The Department of Counseling, Leadership, Literacy, and Special Education at Lehman College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Counselor Education: Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Responsibilities include maintaining a teaching load of 18 credits per academic year, teaching graduate-level courses (on campus and online) in the Counselor Education: Clinical Mental Health Counseling curriculum, possible undergraduate courses, service to the college/university/community, advising master’s students, engaging in research and scholarly activity, and participating in committees. The teaching will include online instruction; however, this is not a remote position. Faculty may assist in program and clinical coordination. Demonstrate knowledge and skills for teaching graduate-level courses (on campus and online) in multiple facets within Counselor Education: Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Share responsibility for program, committee, and department assignments, including administrative, supervisory, program and course development, CACREP compliance, and other duties as assigned. Advise master’s students; engage in an active program of research and scholarly work; maintain professional identity as a Counselor Educator; serve on program/department/school/college/university committees. Maintain a teaching load of 18 credits per academic year; engage in service to the college, university, and community; demonstrate commitment to student engagement, advisement, mentoring; pursue scholarship and publication. Assist with program and clinical coordination and CACREP compliance. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Counselor Education or related field; CACREP accreditation preferred or meet CACREP standards through prior full-time faculty experience; demonstrated excellence in graduate teaching; experience with diverse student populations and commitment to social justice, anti-racism, and DEI; ongoing scholarship; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; current NYS license as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education or related field; or equivalent. Doctoral degree in Counselor Education, preferably CACREP accredited, or equivalent through prior full-time faculty experience. Demonstrated excellence in graduate-level teaching in person and online. Experience with diverse student populations; commitment to social justice, DEI. Ongoing scholarly activity; strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Current NY licensure as an LMHC. Preferred: Experience teaching courses in research methods; experience delivering professional development; experience in assessment, recruitment, and advisement. Experience teaching research methods courses. Experience developing or delivering professional development workshops. Experience in assessment, recruitment, and/or advisement.
