Job Summary As the Executive Sous Chef, you will assist the Executive Chef with the successful operation of the Culinary Department for the dining program. You will supervise, prepare, and cook a variety of food items, develop daily menu items, and garnish preparations. You may supervise hourly associates and will work with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering. This is an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and expenditures for the Dining program.
Assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus.
Produce and execute catering events as needed.
Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team.
Assist with research and development of recipes and ingredients.
Assist with overall Well Building initiatives for the café program.
Daily safety, quality assurance and safety walk-throughs.
Assist with management of Café hourly teams.
Ordering, receiving, and ensuring proper coding, and AP of invoices.
Assist with safety and sanitation training for Compass Compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
A.S. or equivalent culinary experience
Some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending upon formal degree or training
Catering experience a plus
High volume, complex foodservice operations experience
Institutional and batch cooking experience helpful
Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
Proficiency with computers; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, E-mail, and Internet
