Overview

Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Hybrid) at GEICO. The role focuses on building and maintaining a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake, partnering with Finance and Technology teams to redesign how Finance data is captured, transformed, and utilized to meet business goals. Reports to the Senior Manager of Finance Data & Analytics. Responsibilities

Drive solutions by applying strong functional and technical Finance Systems expertise to support GEICO’s current and future needs. Lead cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle. Support design sessions to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet business expectations. Collaborate with FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering, and Finance Technology leaders to align on goals and roadmaps for the Finance Data Lake/Warehouse. Help establish a vision and technology roadmap for a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse; support FP&A planning/budgeting, financial reporting, and analytics. Contribute to the development and maintenance of a reconciled data repository to support FP&A processing and analytics; ensure the GL can function as a thin ledger. Assist with the deployment of best practices across multiple ERP systems and data platforms. Support data ingestion, transformation, and ETL/ELT processes; work with cloud data solutions (e.g., Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent). Help implement governance and SOX control frameworks; engage with stakeholders to align on long-term finance and tech goals. Translate business requirements into technical specifications; share best practices and improve cross-team processes. Qualifications

15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft). 3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred). 3+ years experience with Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and Financial Reporting tools. Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling; SQL proficiency; ability to write, debug, and optimize SQL queries and ETL jobs. Experience with major financial systems vendors (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS/Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP). Finance domain expertise to translate process and functional needs into system solutions; knowledge of FP&A budgeting, planning, and forecasting. Experience with analytical tools (Power BI, Tableau) and data visualization. Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations; ability to collaborate with Finance users across Technology and Finance. Strong project management skills and ability to work independently or in a team; familiarity with SDLC. Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent. Annual Salary

$115,000.00 - $260,000.00 per year. The final salary is based on scope, responsibilities, experience, location, and market considerations. GEICO will not sponsor new applicants for employment authorization for this position. Company Values
