Overview
Staff Engineer – Finance Data Specialist (Hybrid) at GEICO. Role focuses on building and maintaining a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake, enabling FP&A processing and analytics, and partnering with Finance and Technology teams to drive data-driven business outcomes. Responsibilities
Leverage functional and technical Finance Systems expertise to drive solutions that support current and future department needs Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle Collaborate with peers to design well-structured, efficient systems that meet business expectations Work with FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering and Finance Technology leaders to build out a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse Support the delivery of technology solutions for FP&A planning/budgeting, financial reporting, and revenue/expense analytics Assist in establishing a roadmap to build a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse and a reconciled source of truth for financial data Ensure governance and control frameworks (SOX and audits) are maintained Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications Share best practices and improve processes across teams Qualifications
15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, PeopleSoft) 3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred) 3+ years working with Finance Data Lakes/Warehouses/Marts and Financial Reporting tools Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling Experience with data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.) Strong SQL skills; ability to write, debug and optimize SQL queries and ETL jobs Experience with Financials across major vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS/Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP) Finance domain expertise to translate processes into system solutions Understanding of FP&A budgeting, planning, and forecasting Experience implementing or supporting Revenue or Expense analytics (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) Knowledge of accounting processes and reporting expectations Ability to communicate with users across Technology and Finance Project management understanding and ability to work independently or in teams LDLC/SDLC familiarity and strong problem-solving abilities Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent Salary
