Small Commercial Underwriter
in property casualty insurance, you’ll develop, grow and maintain diversified books of business while working closely with agents and brokers to assess risks, determine premiums, set conditions and negotiate deals that maximize profitability and meet business goals. Position expectations
Strategic Account Manager: write new Property and Casualty accounts with premiums of $100,000 and below; grow relationships and pursue renewals Problem solver: analyze data to determine risk selection, premiums, policies and conditions; identify opportunities for growth and diversification Clear communicator: maintain relationships with agents and brokers; present proposals, negotiate deals and obtain approvals Collaborative teammate: mentor underwriters and share best practices Conscientious professional: document account reviews, sign-offs, referrals, letters of authority and follow underwriting guidelines Qualifications
Experience 3-5+ years of relevant experience Experience with multi-line insurance products Skills Analytical, problem-solving capabilities Strong territory management skills Excellent communication skills Aptitude for building relationships with agents, brokers, peers and junior underwriters Knowledge Command of insurance finance and actuarial concepts Thorough knowledge of commercial insurance products, underwriting, risk selection, pricing and regulatory issues Understanding of contract language, including state differences Familiarity with continuous improvement processes and tools Education A bachelor’s degree in a related field Chartered Property Casual Underwriter or other professional designation preferred About Us & Pay Philosophy
