Baker McKenzie’s Tax Practice is a leader within our Firm and one of the most highly regarded tax practices in the world. Ranked Band 1 by Chambers Global for its work worldwide, the tax practice is recognized by clients and industry peers for the quality tax advice it provides. Our tax practice expertly covers all aspects of tax planning and transactions, dispute resolution (both administrative and litigation), tax policy, transfer pricing, indirect taxes and wealth management tax advice and planning. Role and responsibilities

Advise a diverse range of clients on the structuring of domestic and cross-border investments in various asset classes, private investment offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. Draft and negotiate related contracts and investment documents. Draft memoranda and opinions on current, complex US tax issues. Qualifications

3–7 years of relevant tax experience in areas such as real estate taxation (including REITs, qualified opportunity zones, and 1031 like-kind exchanges), private equity (including fund formation, carried interest structures, and M&A), partnership tax and joint ventures, energy (including tax credit monetization transactions), and family office structuring. Ability to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate with colleagues in different practice groups and countries. Enjoy learning and embracing new, developing areas of tax law with limited formal guidance. Top academic credentials. An LLM in taxation is not required but may be favorably considered. This position is bonus eligible and includes medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits based on hours worked. US base compensation is expected to be $260-420K annually when located in an office in New York, California, Illinois, or Washington DC; within the range, pay is determined by location and factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.
