Position Summary Under the direction of the Sr. Director for Clinical Development and the Practice Manager for Orthopedics, the Casting Tech, supports patient throughput, clinical assessment, and management/delivery of durable medical equipment. Principal Responsibilities

Apply, adjust and remove casts Measure and fit patients for braces and other orthopedic devices Assist Orthopedic Surgeon with examinations and medical procedures Instruct patient in proper care of cast and splints, including walking with casts and boots Instructing patients with the use of crutches and DME Change dressing and care for wounds Remove sutures, staples, etc. Order medical supplies and manage DME inventory EMR documentation of services performed Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge Provides patient education and instruction as directed by the Physician. Makes decisions and judgments on phone calls, answering questions and advising patients with Physician guidelines. Instructs patient in preparation for procedures and in-home care, using instruction sheets when applicable Maintains knowledge of and complies with established policies and procedures Performs other related duties as assigned Core Competencies

Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures Knowledge of Medical Terminology Knowledgeable in the use of CPT and ICD-10 code reference books Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications as well as ability to speak clearly Skill in maintaining records and recording test results Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public Ability to be detailed oriented, follow established priorities or procedures, and deliver quality customer service Ability to use good judgment, make sound decisions and behave with tact, decorum and diplomacy Ability to maintain quality control standards Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations Ability to read, understand and respond to oral and written instructions Minimum Requirements

Proven work experience as an Orthopedic Cast Technician or similar role Experience with cast application and removal techniques Knowledge of orthopedic terminology and procedures Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Preferred minimum 2 years Orthopedic Technician experience within an orthopedic practice (or military technical medic training) High school diploma or equivalent; Certification as an Orthopedic Technologist (OTC) or Nationally Certified Medical Assistant preferred Compliance Salary Range Disclosure

Expected Pay Range: $59,090 - $65,000 Seniority level
