The PT Shelter Advocate provides crisis intervention, advocacy, and support services to victims of violence and sexual assault, including youth, at the Family Crisis Center. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe and sanitary shelter, assessing needs, and connecting clients with resources. Responsibilities

Maintain a safe shelter, ensuring the building is secure and sanitary at all times; address concerns when on duty. Evaluate crisis situations, provide emotional support, coordinate transportation as appropriate, assess needs and barriers to provide resources for those experiencing domestic abuse or sexual assault and at-risk youth in person or via the 24/7 crisis line. Provide trauma-informed and strengths-based support and advocacy for victims of violence and sexual assault, including assistance with restraining orders, crime victim compensation, safety planning, and facilitation of assessing other necessary resources. Provide accompaniment and advocacy for SAVS/SANE. Provide support to youth in crisis and their parents/guardians via walk-in, crisis line, or shelter; mediate to de-escalate tensions and improve future conflict management. Organize and implement component work (support groups, services, activities, specialized advocacy); follow-ups, program promotion, participant feedback, and monthly reporting of activities. Maintain knowledge of legal, housing, employment, education, and other support services and assist clients with appropriate resources. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure proper shift coverage and provide support and guidance to new staff, volunteers, or interns as needed. Acquire 15 hours of training specific to youth-related issues per calendar year. Assist with fundraising activities and the development of grant applications and reports, as directed. Follow all program, organizational, administrative and fiscal requirements, policies and procedures, including reporting, donations tracking, and utilization of resources, accurately and timely. Minimum Qualifications

BS/BA in psychology, social work, human services or related field with one year of relatable work or preparatory experience, leading to knowledge of crisis intervention/youth/domestic violence/sexual assault services; OR Associate’s degree in related field and three years of related work or preparatory experience; OR High School Diploma and 5 years of relatable work or preparatory experience. This position is for 3 overnight shifts, 10:15 PM–6:30 AM. Overtime shift receives a $1 shift differential in addition to wage. Candidate will receive extensive training to prepare for this role and have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours/week during the training period.
