Director of Business Affairs . The Director of Business Affairs, under the direction of the Head of School, supervises the financial and facilities transactions and processes for the School. This position is a principal leader in operations, financial strategy, and policy. The Director of Business Affairs is a member of the Administrative Team and leads teams of personnel in accounting, financial operations, business planning, human resources, administration, facilities management, risk management, and other operational and administrative services including health services and food services. This role assists the Head of School, supervises the Business Office, facilities, and clinic teams, and collaborates with all administrators, staff, and faculty. This is a full-time exempt position. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required; CPA preferred. Minimum five years of overall broad financial and operations management experience; experience with not-for-profit organizations preferred. Ability to translate financial concepts and effectively collaborate with other administrators in admissions, marketing, fundraising, and education. Proficiency in basic technology applications (MS Word, Excel). Google Apps knowledge is beneficial. Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills. Self-starter who can multitask; excellent verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills; strong prioritization, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Contributes to the life of the school beyond regular duties; represents the school positively. Head of School Responsibilities: The Director of Business Affairs supervises the financial and facilities transactions and processes for the School and serves as the chief financial officer. With direction from the Head of School, the Director leads teams in accounting, financial operations, business planning, human resources, administration, facilities management, risk management, and other services including health services and food services. This role supervises the Business Office, facilities, and clinic teams and works in collaboration with all administrators, staff, and faculty. This is a full-time exempt position. Financial Management Responsibilities: Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning processes; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; keep the Administrative Team informed of the School’s financial status. Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner. Coordinate and lead the annual financial audit process; liaise with external auditors and the finance committee. Manage cash flow, cash forecasting, investments, and endowment pools. Oversee contracts and a contracts management system to ensure proper billing and collections. Update and implement business policies, processes, and accounting practices; maintain policy manuals. Communicate critical financial matters timely to the Head of School and Board of Trustees. Additional Management Responsibilities: Directly supervise the Facilities Manager and maintenance/security/custodial functions; manage property and insurance programs; advise the Head of School and Board of changes. Coordinate with Contractors and the Facilities Committee for renovations, replacements, and construction projects. Manage facilities usage by third parties as a revenue source, including risk management, contracts, and fees. Acquire and manage equipment leases and maintenance. Directly supervise health services personnel and oversee policies and procedures for health and physical safety. Solicit and review bids, prepare specifications, obtain bids, tabulate, and execute contracts per Board policy. Develop and administer procurement programs for supplies, materials, and equipment in a cost-effective manner. Directly supervise the Human Resources Manager and lead annual benefits planning and policy changes; enhance compensation and benefits through research and initiatives. Oversee annual employee contracts and compensation letters with input from the Head of School and Principal. Oversee Indexed Tuition processes with input from the Principal and Director of Admissions; design processes to maximize net tuition and enrollment goals. Engage with parents, employees, trustees, and third-party vendors transparently and professionally. Assist the technology team with resource selection and procurement; explore grant-funded procurement opportunities; oversee software installations and staff training on risk-reducing cyber security. Research financial and management topics for compliance and operational implications; ensure compliance with federal and state laws and board policies. Serve as a resource to the Head of School and Board on regulatory matters; align recommendations with the Head of School’s leadership. Provide input into school-wide decisions with the Admin Team when appropriate. Fulfill Faculty/Staff Handbook expectations, including personal faith in Jesus Christ.
