The Assistant Sportsbook Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service and overseeing daily operations within the Sportsbook area. This position supports property-level operations, supervises frontline team members, and ensures compliance with all applicable policies and regulations, while exemplifying the GILA WAY.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Promote and provide excellent guest service experiences to internal and external guests.
Support Sportsbook operations at the property level; oversee daily shift activities, guest service delivery, and compliance.
Supervise frontline Sportsbook team members.
Monitor wagering accuracy, regulatory compliance, and guest service standards.
Provide coaching, scheduling, and real‑time operational support.
Assist in onboarding and training new staff.
Resolve routine guest concerns and handle escalated service issues.
Ensure consistent guest‑first service on the floor.
Track player transactions to ensure AML compliance.
Monitor daily adherence to gaming and cash‑handling regulations.
Ensure accuracy in shift‑level cash handling and wagering.
Maintain accurate guest information and player data records within accounting software.
Track Sportsbook inventory and facilitate orders as needed.
Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly oversees all on‑site Sportsbook staff. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems, in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED and prior leadership experience.
Must be able to perform in a calm and responsible manner in emergency situations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
This position must have, or an ability to acquire within one year, an in‑depth knowledge and thorough understanding of Enterprise Policies and Procedures, governmental regulations, and technical rules relevant to their responsibilities, such as the following: National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC)
Minimum Internal Controls Standards (MICS)
State Gaming Compact between Gila River Indian Community/State of Arizona
Gila River Indian Community‑Tribal Gaming Ordinance
GRGE Gaming Internal Control Standards which includes Enterprise and Departmental Policies and Procedures
COMPUTER/TECHNICAL SKILLS Proficiency in the use of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite Software, email and enterprise specific programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all numbers. Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
