Job Summary The Director of Cage and Sportsbook oversees the operations of the Casino Cage, Sportsbook, and related cash handling and wagering functions. This role ensures compliance with gaming regulations, company policies, and internal controls while maintaining the highest standards of guest service, financial accuracy, and team leadership. The Director is responsible for developing strategies to optimize profitability, streamline operations, safeguard assets, and deliver exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Cage and Sportsbook departments, ensuring efficient, secure, and guest-focused operations.

Oversee all aspects of cash handling, balancing, check cashing, credit issuance, player transactions, and sportsbook wagering activity.

Ensure compliance with state gaming regulations, internal controls, and federal financial reporting requirements (e.g., Title 31).

Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies, procedures, and performance standards.

Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate Cage Cashiers, Supervisors, Sportsbook Writers, and management staff.

Monitor daily reports and financial reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify variances or irregularities.

Partner with Compliance, Finance, and Security teams to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory adherence.

Analyze department performance and financial metrics; recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability.

Drive guest service initiatives to create a positive and welcoming environment in Cage and Sportsbook operations.

Manage departmental budgets, scheduling, and labor resources effectively.

Collaborate with Marketing and Player Development to maximize revenue opportunities and enhance the sportsbook experience.

Represents the department in audits, regulatory reviews, and executive leadership meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Hospitality, or a closely related field, required.

Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in casino cage, sportsbook, and financial operations, with at least five (5) years in a senior management role in a casino, required; a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.

Strong knowledge of cash handling, sportsbook operations, Title 31/AML compliance and gaming regulations.

Proven leadership and team development skills with the ability to manage large, diverse teams.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Catawba Gaming License as required by tribal and state authorities.

Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on guest service excellence.

Proficiency in casino management systems, sportsbook technology, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, using the English language.

Ability to work an alternate schedule as needed, to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Ability to work in a loud fast-paced environment (may occasionally be exposed to second-hand cigarette smoke).

Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; bend to open/use lower drawers or cabinetry; to talk, hear, and see. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
