Summer Travel Camp Director, LA South Region – Galileo Learning. The role involves dynamic leadership across multiple camp sites in a region, stepping in for Camp Directors or Assistant Directors as needed, to ensure smooth operations and a joyful, safe, and inspiring camper experience. Location & Work Schedule

This is a seasonal role running February–September 2026, with a three-phase schedule. Exact dates vary by hire date and camp operations. Phase One: Training & Prep

(Feb–June/July): Up to 15 hours/week, flexible and remote. Includes a Bay Area retreat, marketing events (some evenings/weekends), and on-site prep the week before camp starts. Phase Two: On-Site

(June–August): 40+ hours/week during camp season (6–8 weeks), typically 45 hours/week split with the assistant director team. Hours vary 7am–6pm. Travel to up to 6 camp locations within the region is required; you may provide support where needed and sometimes step in with little notice to ensure operations. Phase Three: Wrap-Up

(Aug–Sept): Up to 5 hours total, remote for final admin tasks and staff reviews. Core Responsibilities

Infuse camp with Galileo’s spirit: create an inclusive, joyful, and creative environment for campers, staff, and families. Lead with ownership and vision: manage preseason through end-of-summer wrap-up, oversee daily operations, parent communication, and program quality. Maintain safety and smooth operations: prioritize camper safety and family trust, anticipate needs, adapt quickly, and problem-solve as needed. Develop and manage your team: train and mentor a staff of 10–40, set expectations for instructional standards, provide ongoing feedback and development, and handle staffing, scheduling, and payroll. Model creativity and innovation: apply the Galileo Innovation Approach (GIA) to encourage curiosity and problem-solving, aligning spirit with operations. Build partnerships: act as the primary camp contact, communicate with families, facilities, HQ support, and community partners; collaborate with the Field Program Manager and maintain trust with staff and campers. Compensation

Preseason (Feb–June): Earn hourly pay ($23/hour) for flexible, part-time prep and training Camp Season (June–Aug): Transition to a weekly salary ($1,450/week) as a full-time exempt Camp Director during summer operations Postseason (Aug–Sept): Light part-time work, paid hourly ($23/hour) Bonus/Commission: Additional $1 per camper-week enrollment, plus potential commission for add-on weeks Note: Exact compensation may vary based on geography and Galileo camp director tenure.
