Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Nursing Southern Utah University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Department of Nursing. This position is primarily focused on teaching in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program online courses, with potential face-to-face clinical courses in the prelicensure program. The appointment begins January 2026 and is a 9-month position. Clinical days may be scheduled in Cedar City and St. George, Utah.

Position Summary The faculty member will teach in the SUU Department of Nursing (DON) in areas of expertise, provide service to the DON, College of Health Sciences (COHS), University, community, and profession, and contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the DON. The role requires ongoing engagement in teaching, service, and scholarly activity.

Essential Functions

Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of nursing academic programs.

Participate in program and course revisions.

Revise assigned courses to reflect program outcomes, AACN essentials, state board minimum standards, current evidence, and best practices.

Collaborate with clinical coordinators, program directors, the DON Chair, and program leads to identify clinical experiences and sites needed for quality clinical education.

Teach graduate online courses and possible undergraduate face-to-face clinical nursing courses.

Supervise nursing students as assigned.

Collaborate with clinical agencies to arrange student clinical experiences and ensure alignment with course objectives and schedules.

Contribute to the development of academic policies affecting admission, progression, graduation, and dismissal of students.

Participate in evaluation and ongoing enhancement of the curricula.

Apply evidence from best education practices to curriculum development and teaching.

Engage in Department, College, University, community, and professional activities.

Participate in department and college committees, task forces, and other meetings.

Engage in scholarly projects and clinical scholarship or research and leadership/service as appropriate.

Education & Experience Minimum Qualifications

A master’s degree in nursing and a doctoral degree in a related field (preferably nursing).

Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in Utah or eligible to obtain APRN license by start date.

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Official transcripts by January start date if hired.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 2 years of clinical experience.

Previous college-level teaching experience.
